AI Didn’t Fix Your Bottleneck

AI doesn’t fix a bottleneck. It feeds it.
If work already flows through one person, handing the team AI tools doesn’t move the chokepoint. It doubles what arrives at it. Same approver, twice the queue.
The knowledge side is worse. A company buys an agent to handle support questions. The agent needs to know how the work actually gets done. That lives in one person’s head. So now that person isn’t answering tickets — they’re validating an agent’s answers about tickets. We added a job.
The teams that get out of this don’t start with the tool. They start by getting the knowledge out of the head. One customer had engineers spending around 3,000 hours a year on the same partner questions. After we captured what they knew into structured training, it dropped to roughly 1,000. The agent came after, and it had something to stand on.
And the thing is, that order is the whole difference. Capture, then automate. Backwards, and you’ve built a faster route to the same person.
Which of your people would a new AI project actually land on?
